After working on the Indonesian language and culture immersion programs since 1997 with a number of educational institutes in the country, APBIPA Bali is now strengthening its Indonesian language program with its partner organisations in Bali (Denpasar, Singaraja), Jakarta and Makassar:
– Ngurah Rai University Language Centre in Denpasar
– BIPA Dahsyat in Jakarta
– Eurolasia Training Centre in Makassar
– Alekawa Language Centre in Makassar
– SLC International College in Singaraja
The purpose of this joint program is to provide a language learning experience in such a way so that students could enjoy cultural diversity of Indonesia either taking a course in two different locations or undertake a program at one designated city they would like explore.
This program allows students completing their program in Bali, for example, could then continue the course to the higher level in Makassar or Jakarta and vice versa. This is made possible because the syllabus and material are standarzised.
The major program components in the four different cities are the same, i.e. language studies (40-60 hours), cultural studies (20 – 30 hours), homestay accommodation (13-20 nights) and tutoring with local students. Through the program students will be fully exposed to Indonesian language culture the local culture.
This program was first tried out in 2011, i.e. one week in Denpasar and another week in Singaraja with a group of three Australian students. In 2016 another tried out was organized with two students from America.
As a professional organization for the teaching of Indonesian as a second language since 1998 and current easier access to different parts of the country, it is time for us to share expertise with new organizations with the same or similar missions – strengthening, empowering and promoting in-country IFL programs.
The program is available for 1-3 intensive intensive weeks with the following daily timetable:
Morning: Language Studies
Afternoon: Cultural Studies & Tutorial
